Overcoming Limiting Beliefs

Many people fail to reach their goals because of their inabilities in identifying limiting beliefs.  A limiting belief can hold you back in every area of your life.  So what is a limiting belief?  It’s simply an assumption about reality that simply isn’t true.   It’s an obstacle that can keep you from getting what you want out of life.

Some examples of limiting beliefs are:
  • “I’m not smart enough to start my own business.”
  • “I won’t make any money as an entrepreneur.”
  • “I don’t speak well enough to get in front of people.”
  • “I’m an introvert, so I can’t network with others.”
One of the main sources of a limiting beliefs is fear.  Fear of failure, fear of rejection, or even fear of success.  Fear can stop forward movement and can even immobilize you, so it’s important to take the necessary steps to overcome the source of the fear.

So how do we overcome fear and ultimately our limiting beliefs?  Is it just through identifying limiting beliefs that we find freedom?  No.  It is by replacing Fear with Faith. Fear and Faith are opposites.  Faith connects us with a divine power that gives us the strength and courage to overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

  • Where Fear sees the worst in a situation, Faith believes the best and finds a way through.
  • Where Fear is doubtful, Faith holds on and believes.
  • When Fear sees the obstacles, Faith looks beyond and sees the possibilities.
  • While Fear wants to find comfort in standing still, Faith seeks opportunities to move forward.
  • When Fear runs away and retreats, Faith moves boldly forward.
  • While Fear focuses on and magnifies the problem, Faith sees beyond the problem and looks to Him who can solve it.
It is not faith in yourself, in your abilities, or in your skills.  The reason Faith is able to produce such great courage is because it is rooted in infinite power.   It is by Faith and with a heart filled with courage, that you can overcome your limiting beliefs and advance to your life’s passion and purpose.

Take Action: Now that you have walked through the process of identifying limiting beliefs, it’s time to take action.  Take a few quiet minutes to write down all of your limiting beliefs.  Leave some space under each.  Now go back and write a faith-filled quote, scripture, or other inspirational thought beneath each limiting belief.  Each morning, read your faith-filled beliefs and commit to living a faith-filled life.

So are you ready to take action today to live faith-filled lives?  How did this blog post impact you?  I would love to hear from you!  Leave a comment below and don't forget to spread the love by sharing this post on Facebook and Twitter!  Thank you and I appreciate you!!!
